NURSERY
FOUNDATION STAGE 1

For many children, Nursery marks their first step into the world of education—and at Chantry Community Primary School, we ensure that step is filled with joy, discovery, and growth. Our Nursery provides a rich, stimulating environment that is warm, welcoming, and safe, helping every child feel happy, secure and ready to learn.
Children thrive here through play, exploration, experimentation, and social interaction. Guided by qualified teachers and highly skilled support staff, they engage in exciting and challenging activities that spark curiosity and foster a lifelong love of learning.
Nursery Places and Timings
We offer 15-hour funded Nursery places for up to 26 children in each session:
-
Morning session: 8:30–11:30am
-
Afternoon session: 12:30–3:30pm
Our Curriculum: Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
We follow the 2025 Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework, which sets national standards for learning, development, and care for children from birth to age five.
At Chantry Community Primary School, the Foundation Stage applies to all children aged 3 to 5. The EYFS curriculum is built around seven areas of learning and development, each equally vital in shaping a well-rounded early education.
Prime Areas of Learning
These three areas lay the foundation for children's curiosity, relationships, and overall development:
-
Communication and Language
-
Physical Development
-
Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Specific Areas of Learning
These four areas build upon and reinforce the prime areas:
-
Literacy
-
Mathematics
-
Understanding the World
-
Expressive Arts and Design
Our dedicated Nursery team work collaboratively to observe and assess each child’s progress. We document their achievements—whether through paintings, drawings, writing, or photographs—using Tapestry, our secure online learning journal. Parents can access Tapestry to stay connected with their child’s learning journey and celebrate their milestones.

RECEPTION
FOUNDATION STAGE 2
At Chantry Community Primary School, we are committed to giving every child the strongest possible start to their educational journey. In Reception, we create a vibrant and stimulating setting where children thrive through exploration, creativity, and meaningful relationships. We take the time to truly understand each child, tailoring our curriculum to reflect their individual needs and current interests. This personalised approach allows us to spark enthusiasm and deepen engagement, making learning both joyful and relevant.
Our continuous provision is thoughtfully enhanced with topic-based learning that evolves with the children’s passions—whether it’s dinosaurs, space, or the natural world—ensuring every day is filled with wonder and excitement.
From their very first day at Chantry, children begin to absorb and live out the values that will guide them throughout their school life and beyond. By the time they leave us at the end of Year 6, they are well-prepared for the next stage of their learning journey—academically, socially, and emotionally.

This platform allows parents to stay connected to their child’s learning journey and celebrate milestones together.
